Canon EF 135mm f2L II USM Release date, Price, Specs, Rumors, and Review

The Canon EF 135mm f2L II USM lens is rumored to be in the works and to be announced in 2017 without a built-in image stabilization system.

Canon is rumored to be working on a replacement the EF 135mm f/2L ($999 – Amazon| B&H | Adorama) lens. This telephoto prime has been around for 20 years.

Canon EF 135mm f2L II USM lens on the horizon

According to the latest reports, the Japanese company is actively working on an heir to the Canon EF 135mm f2L II USM. As a result, it is very likely that we will see an official announcement sometime in 2017. The new model could be announced next year along with the rumored Canon 85mm L-Series lens.

They also say the prototype of the telephoto prime optic already exists internally at Canon, but hasn’t yet been given to photographers for field testing.

At this point, there are no leaked specifications of the upcoming product. There are several patents for the 135mm focal length in either f/2 and f/1.8 maximum aperture models. See here and here.
